25/01/2012 :: Friends of Kannur Express Condolence on the Demise of Dr. Sukumar Azheekode Friends of Kannur Kuwait Expats association ( FOKE) Executive committee expressed the deepest condolence on the sad demise of famous Malayalam writer and orator Dr. Sukumar Azhikode a great son of Kannur. One of the towering figures of Kerala`s cultural scene, Azhikode is known for his bold interventions in the cultural as well as literary, social milieu of Kerala. His hard criticism was penetrating. He was a thinker, orator, teacher social-political critic and journalist all rolled into one. FOKE will pay homage to Dr.Azheekode on 27th January Friday at 6 pm in a special Function organized at Friends of Kannur Hall in Mangaf.

06/11/2011 :: FOKE ORGANISED FREE MEDICAL CAMP Friends of Kannur Kuwait Expat`s Association FOKE organised a free medicual check up and consultation camp at India International school Mangaf on friday 28th october 2011 in association with Indian Docto`r Forum , Kuwait Medical Association and Kuwait Herat Foundation. The Camp was Inaugurated by Hon. Indian Ambbassodor H.E Satish C. Metha. He appreciated noble service that Indian Docotr`s forum is rendering to the society . He also Congragulated Friends Of Kannur for organising such an event which is both curative , preventive and helpful to the needy people those who don`t get a chance to meet the specialised doctors. FOKE president K.V.Vijayesh presided over the function. Gen Secretary M.P.Jithesh Welcomed the gathering. IDF president Dr.Nampoory, IIS Director Mr. Malayil Moosa koya and IIS Pricipal Mr. Basheer felicitaed the occation. FOKE Vanithavedi Chairperson Mrs. Anitha Somaraj gave the vote of thanks. Over 800 people from all over Kuwait , specially from differents labour camps attended the medical camp. More that 40 docotr in various specialities namely General Medicine, Orthopedic, Diabetology, Caridioology, Neurology , Eurology, Nephrology, ENT, Gynecology and Ophthalmology and 60 volunteers and paramedical staff offered their service in the camp . People who had the opportunity to attend the medical camp was happy and satisfied with the free medical service rendered to them such as blood sugar , cholestrole, blood pressure checking and ECG. 04/10/2011 :: FOKE Celebrated “Onam Eid Sallapam 2011" Friends of Kannur Kuwait Expats Association FOKE, the largest socio- cultural organisations of expatriates from Kannur district in Kuwait, celebrated “Onam Eid Sallapam 2011" at Indian central school, Abbasiya. The program was inaugurated by the chief guest Hon. Indian Ambassador H.E Satish C Mehta by lighting the traditional Lamp. Member of Parliament from Kozhikode Parliament constituency Sri.M.K Raghavan who hails from Kannur district was the guest of Honor. FOKE president Mr.Vijayesh.K.V presided over the inaugural function and Gen. Secretary Mr.Jithesh.M.P welcomed the gathering. 05/09/2011 :: FOKE Office bearers met New Indian Ambassador FOKE Office bearers met New Indian Ambassador Office bearers of Friends of Kannur Kuwait Expats Association (FOKE) met the new Ambassador of India to Kuwait H.E Satish C Metha and extended heartiest and warm welcome on behalf of the entire FOKE family. The FOKE team briefed The Ambassador about the aims and objectives of the association and explained the charity assistance extended to the community in Kuwait and back home. They also discussed various issues related to the Indian community in Kuwait. On a discussion regarding the lack of direct flights to Kozhikode, H.E assured that he will discuss the same with Air India authorities.

20/08/2011 :: Friends of Kannur FOKE conducted Blood donation camp To commemorate India`s 65th Independence day, Friends of Kannur (FOKE) organized Blood donation camp at Central Blood Bank, Jabriya on Friday 19th of August, 2011. The camp was attended by more than 80 FOKE members who have come forward to donate their blood voluntarily irrespective of their other engagements on a Friday. FOKE is encouraging the Blood donation among its members as an act of charity. Donation of blood means saving precious lives. Donation of blood is a noble cause and it has no harm. Modern medical science revealed that donating blood reduces the chances of heart attack and above all it enhances the production of new blood cells. FOKE Officials thanked each and every one who participated in this great act of charity. FOKE officials also thanked Central Blood Bank officials and all the paramedical staffs, who helped for the success of this campaign. The officials from blood bank well acknowledged the FOKE commitment especially when the scarcity of blood is being communicated to all community in Kuwait.

18/07/2011 :: Friend of Kannur (FOKE) Opened new office and meeting hall Friend of Kannur Kuwait Expat’s Association (FOKE), the largest expatriates association of non-resident Keralites from Kannur district, inaugurated its new office and meeting hall in Mangaf. In a glittering function, Mr. Prabhakaran Chief Operation Officer of O & G Engineering inaugurated the office on Friday, 17th June 2011. The new office located at Mangaf -Fahaheel road, Behind Papa John’s Pizza near the Cambridge school (opposite Sultan Centre) is having a meeting hall facility which can accommodate 75 pax. The well equipped and furnished hall can also be used for the expatriate community in and around Fahaheel and Mangaf to hold small family gatherings and meetings, said the organizers in a press release. FOKE president K.V Vijayesh Presided the function, General Secretary Jithesh.M.P welcomed the gathering. Chief Patron I.V.Dinesh, Patrons Sooryanarayan, Somaraj.K, G.V.Mohan, Former president B.P.Surendran, Former Gen. Secretary T.V. Jayan, Vanitha Vedi patron Ambika Sooryanarayan, Vanitha Vedi Chairperson Anitha Somaraj.K and unit representatives graced the occasion and expressed wishes. Various unit committees, Vanitha Vedi members and FOKE family members were also present during the inaugural function. The new office hall will provide not only as a meeting place, but also shares some joy full memories within the community during the family meetings and gatherings, opined the organizer.
